Dr. Carlson is committed to improving the health and welfare of his patients while emphasizing the importance of positive lifestyle choices and the prudent administration of clinical guidelines in medication management.
Dr. Carlson founded Sioux City Hospitalists at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center and has served as its medical director. He currently serves as medical director of the Siouxland Adult Medicine clinic and the Siouxland Executive Wellness Center. Dr. Carlson’s practice works hard to accommodate patients quickly and efficiently.
Mark Carlson, MD, CCD
Dr. Mark Carlson, MD is a board-certified physician, specializing in Internal Medicine and lipidology. Dr. Carlson has been practicing Internal Medicine in Sioux City, Iowa since 1989. He completed his medical training at the University of Minnesota and Abbott Northwestern and Minneapolis Heart Institute. Dr. Carlson is a long-time member of the National Lipid association.
Dr. Carlson is committed to providing each and every one of his personalized care patients with the finest in preventative care with state-of-the-art diagnostics.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Carlson has served in various hospital and clinic based leadership roles. He regularly lectures nationwide on the topics of internal medicine, and has particular expertise and interests in cardiovascular risk prevention, advanced lipid management, anti-aging medicine, osteoporosis, diabetes and hypertension.

Deb Carlson
Deb Carlson has served as Siouxland Adult Medicine Clinic's Office Manager and Bone Density Technologist at SAM Clinic since joining us in 2010. Deb graduated from Briar Cliff University with a BA in Social Work in 1989. Deb's previous career was serving Siouxland as a Social Work Supervisor with the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Deb has been instrumental in establishing SAM clinic's Concierge and Executive Wellness programs and completely renovating our office building at 1605 Douglas Street to help us provide top-level Health and Wellness medical services to the Siouxland Community.
Deb has taken a lead role in establishing our anti-aging and cosmetic services through our Rose Hill MedSpa on the lower level of our office building at 1609 Douglas Street. Deb is also in charge of SAM Clinic's Community Support and Charity Programs to help the disadvantaged of our Siouxland community. Deb also serves on the Board of Directors at Transitional Services of Iowa.
Tyler Nielsen
Tyler Nielsen, ARNP, FNP-C joined Dr. Mark Carlson at Siouxland Adult Medicine inNovember 2022, located at 1605 Douglas Street, Sioux City, IA.
Tyler is originally from the small town of Hull, IA. He graduated with honors from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi in 2012 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Hethen went onto receive his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Briar Cliff Universitygraduating with honors, followed by graduating top of his class at Morningside Universitywith his Master of Nursing specializing as a Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Tyler iscertified through the national certifying body of the American Association of NursePractitioners.
Tyler's past experience as a nurse inclincludesude oncology, mental health, travel nursing, internalmedicine, and family practice. Tyler is a Certified BioTE BHRT (Bio-identical HormoneReplacement Therapy) provider.
